Kanye West's new album release updates, tracklist, and everything we know so far
Kanye West is renowned for his deliberate approach to music creation, a trend that has persisted since his groundbreaking debut in 2004. With a dozen albums under his belt, each marked by last-minute adjustments and delays, his latest project, the highly anticipated collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign titled "Vultures," is no exception.
Throughout 2023, fans have eagerly awaited details about "Vultures," yet the information has been sporadic, making it challenging to distinguish between legitimate updates and online speculations. However, recent developments suggest that the album is nearing completion. Ty Dolla $ign shared a tracklist on Instagram, and various sources have corroborated a fixed release date, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of West's album launches.
Despite false starts, such as the postponement and subsequent cancellation of a listening event in Italy, and another event in Saudi Arabia with a confirmed release date, "Vultures" seems to have found a solid footing. The latest update comes from a club appearance where West and Ty Dolla $ign hinted at a release date of December 15, 2023, though an official confirmation is pending.
Ty Dolla $ign's Instagram post featuring the album's 18-song tracklist adds credibility to the December 15 release date. Several songs, like "New Body," originally intended for West's 2019 album "Yandhi," have surfaced online in various forms over the years.
The tracklist also reveals a unique sample of the Backstreet Boys' hit "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" in one of the songs, showcased in a snippet on Instagram.
Collaboration is a hallmark of Kanye West's work, and "Vultures" is no exception. Besides Ty Dolla $ign, the album features contributions from A-list artists such as Bump J, Lil Durk, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Future, and Young Thug. However, given West's tendency to create multiple versions of songs, the finalized album may differ from those presented during previews.
The lone official single from "Vultures" is the titular track, released on November 22, 2023. Addressing controversy in the lyrics, the song failed to make an impact on the Billboard Hot 100 and received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics.
The looming question remains: will "Vultures" face further delays? Kanye West has a history of postponements, exemplified by the unreleased "Yandhi." Despite past setbacks, the evidence supporting the December 15 release date, coupled with Ty Dolla $ign's involvement, suggests that, while not impossible, another delay is unlikely given the momentum built over the past few weeks.
