Nigerian Actress Iyabo Ojo Issues Counter-Threat, Vows to Sue Naira Marley for N1 Billion

Iyabo Ojo, the acclaimed Nigerian actress, has fired back at singer Naira Marley, asserting her intent to pursue legal action against him for a staggering N1 billion if he refrains from suing her. This comes in response to the demand made by Naira Marley's legal team, who sought a public apology and N500 million in damages from Iyabo Ojo.

The legal dispute originated from an Instagram post by Iyabo Ojo in September 2023, where she allegedly accused Naira Marley of involvement in "spiritual and physical dealings" with the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad. The post also claimed that Naira Marley caused mental harm to the deceased.

Naira Marley's lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, conveyed these accusations in a letter to Iyabo Ojo, which she claims was leaked to the media without being officially delivered to her.

In a public response shared on her verified Instagram page, Iyabo Ojo's legal team dismissed Naira Marley's letter as an attempt at social media blackmail. They highlighted the letter's alleged failure to be officially transmitted and deemed the demands spurious, frivolous, and clout-chasing.

The statement from Iyabo Ojo's lawyers declared, "Our client would've ordinarily dismissed your letter dated 12th December 2023 for being outrightly inconsequential and of no relevance, premised on your failure to transmit the correspondence till this very day. Our client finds your client’s demands spurious, frivolous and clout-chasing but shall initiate an action in case your client fails to do so. Our client shall be claiming the sum of one billion naira."
